I haven't been on the pitch since the previous entry due to my work. Been on call, will be off that detail in 2 weeks and don't have to pick it up again for another 6 weeks, thanks to an understanding partner. I'm hoping when I go back on I can still ref in the weekends. This one has been hard to pawn off due to family events taking place and..there is a reason why we alternate who get's the pager. Easy money, but can crimp your social life if you don't plan ahead.
I am going to Alaska to referee the INA K. Best part is the last time I was there I was in the works of getting my Grade 5. Now that I have it, lost it, and got it back again (I even went as far as looking up my record in USSOCCER.INFO and yes it's there). I just hope my badge comes beforehand.
I have to say it was funny being emeritus even through in the beginning it was a severe blow to my ego. The look on certain faces as they see a guy who isn't even 40 yet (I turn 39 tomorrow) wearing the E badge. The youth was in shock. A certain referee who is big on the coordinating in San Francisco's youth couldn't understand it until I told him the circumstances behind it. I still don't think it fully sunk in, but I guess I am back to being socially acceptable to him now.
